***FOR THOSE SEARCHING FOR A PLACE TO WORSHIP***
I was one of those guys trying to find my place in religion. Growing up Catholic, I was baptized as a baby, received communion as a boy then confirmed that Jesus is Lord as a teen. Back then my relationship was good with The Lord but it wasn't great. After losing two close family members, my twenties were spent distancing myself from the light, doing what it was I wanted to do without Him in my heart... That was an extremely dangerous path I was following and doing something like that was reckless.
Trying to seek self discovery, I tried to attend church again because to know self, you must first know him, and if you do not know him, you do not know self, but little did I know, that it itself was a difficult task as well... In other words, Know History, Know Self - No History, No Self. Several years after I was still going down that dangerous path but in limbo trying to do so. Church after church, bible study after bible study, I still wasn't getting anything. Right after church, I was one of those guys that would go to the beach and hit one of the bars to drink the day away. For me, there just was not any substance no matter which church I went to whether it was the Catholic Church, Methodist, Protestant, Presbyterian, mega churches...
A close friend of mine was reentering into my life. Back then, the two of us meant trouble. This person went down that dangerous path as well and told me that he felt the same way but also said that the church is not any of the buildings or dominations I went to... The people made the church. A church are the people of faith you surround yourself with to feel the Holy Spirit and worship. No disrespect to any of the churches I mentioned earlier because there are those who do attend those churches who feel the Holy Spirit within them.
Plenty of churches get their start with bible studies in their living rooms, others in their garages. I remember POD singer Sonny Sandoval's uncle had bible study/church in his garage back in the days. When TD Jakes got his start, it started out with just 10 people but that number grew. After battling a drug problem, Miles McPherson became born again, I even heard him preach that he started out with a bible study in his home.
The point is, everyone has their stories of how they have received the holy spirit. No matter if there's 8 people or 25, if what that pastor is saying and the people worshipping around you breaks down that first wall in your heart, the Holy Spirit will enter in there and break down the entire foundation so your mind, heart and spirit is built new again... which brings me here. It took me a very long time to find my place and once I found it, the Lord came in like an old Las Vegas casino being demolished for a new upscale resort to be built. My entire mentality changed, my outlook towards life... Jesus came in and washed my sins away and I felt cleaner than ever before. The pastor who helped me reintroduced Him in my heart. It just so happens that this pastor is just starting out himself with only 25+ members. I say + because, the numbers are growing and he's in desperate need of a bigger venue to hold people. They've done several fundraisers but doing something like this is going to need a little bit more help.
He doesn't ask for money, he doesn't ask for assistance. Every Saturday evening, he goes to a business who donated a portion of their space for him on Sundays to roll out 3 large carpets so that company's floors do not get dirty, he sets up chairs, his mic and amplifier, etc... then goes back home to finalize the message he will discuss the following morning. After the service, church members with the kindness of their hearts, helps him roll the carpets back up, place them back in the storage facility, then he packs everything else back in his car and unloads when he gets home. This is his weekend all the time. But he does it with a loving smile on his face. That right there is truly inspiring and admirable. I know I speak for others when I thank him for what he does for us, but when I do thank him, his response is, "I only do this to save souls... to do what Jesus wanted us to do..."
What he does is a lot of work and with the church growing, that means that there will be more chairs to fill. I want him to have a building of his own with the carpet permanently on the floor and seating placed for all who wish to attend. This inspired my friend Sonny to help me do something for this generous man. So secretly without the pastor knowing as well as his family and members of the church no knowing, we created a custom wooden watch brand called Savior Watches with woods from the Holy Land. We are going to initially launch this brand early Spring of 2015 on Kickstarter. With the profit generated from the campaign, we are then going to attend one of the pastor's services and surprise him and his members with a big percentage of the money raised. Could you imagine the look on this man's face when he receives such an offering without any knowledge of what or how it was raised? This would be a true blessing for him and would help him strongly to go out and make more disciples. Isn't that what Jesus wanted us to do?
But we're not going to stop there... We are going to build this brand up and will continue to give this pastor a percentage for his church as well as start programs to help families in need, the homeless, etc... With Jesus, we could do everything, without, we can't do anything.
Acts 5:42 says, "And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: "Jesus is the Messiah.”
And that's what we intend to do. From house to house and from wrist to wrist, we are going to preach and help this man preach that Jesus is the Messiah. So please say a prayer and spread the word about our project so that we all may bless this man to go out and save souls. We can't do this without the loving support of the Christian community. God Bless!
